For the iMovie trailer we got into pairs to create a video personifying an object. My partner was Lindsey and we decided to use a hula hoop as our an object. After looking through the iMovie trailer samples we really like the scary or supernatural ones. So we decided to do a video about a "Killing Hula Hoop". We really enjoyed having fun and being creative with the video. We even posted it to youtube and shared it on social media, we had over 400 views on it before showing it in class.
Application: I think an iMovie trailer would work well in upper elementary grades like 4th-6th. iMovies can be used to give presentations rather than the typical powerpoint presentations. I think students would really enjoy being able to create a short movie to show their classmates and parents. iMovie can be used across all subjects.
Materials: iPads or Apple computers, iMovie App

Do-Ho-Suh Relationship to Home For this activity we were first asked to write about what home is to us and what we think of when we think of home. I wrote about my yard and how my family is always outside. After writing about our home we were asked to create a representation of our drawing or home. I chose to do my back yard. I used many different things to create this like card stock paper, construction paper, yard, wood and tissue paper. I tried to recreate my backyard. In the middle of my back yard there is a huge tree with a swing hanging from its branches that my siblings and I love to swing on. We also have a giant trampoline that everyone loves to jump on, this is the purple circle. I really enjoyed this project because it remind me of my family and how much I miss them.
Application: This could be used in an elementary classroom to tie in with a writing unit. I could have my students write a story about their home or really anything. Then after they write their story they can make their story come to life by doing a project like this. I think well help students get excited about writing and then get them excited to create art. This can be a fun and creative way for students to express themselves.
Materials Needed: Card stock, construction paper, glue, markers, crayons, pencils, scissors, yarn and much more.

Margritte-Surreal Journey Postcards
This task was one of my favorites we did in class this semester. This activity was kind of like a game which made it so much more interesting and fun. We were asked to cut out two background scenes from a magazine that would fit on a index card. Then we were asked to cut out small individual images. Once we glued our background images to to the index card we passed our cards around the table. Each person got to choose a small image to add to our background. After we got our original index cards back we glued on the small images anyway we wanted. Then on one card we wrote a letter to someone about the card, I wrote to my grandma about "The Garden of Mystery" that I was visiting. On the other card we wrote about the juxtaposition of the image.
Application: This could be used in any classroom sitting. It could be used as a fun creative game. Students could create a fun post card then have to write a creative story or letter. I think that this activity could make a writing center very fun for students.
Materials: Old magazines, index cards, paper, glue, scissor, ect.

Unit Reflection
How did the studio lessons relate to the Big Idea?
- I think that all the studios really related to the big idea of relationships. Each studio was a different and unique way for showing relationships. For example the studio about home shows the relationship with my family and home. It shows how I feel about my family and how close we are. The post cards show a different kind of relationship. They show the relationship of objects and backgrounds in a picture and how the way things look can change the meaning of the image. I like how both of these studios show relationships in two different ways.
- My big ah ha moment was during the studio about juxtaposition and the post cards. I really liked how it showed a different kind of relationships. When I realized that the relationships of the pictures in the image of the post card created a unique story my thinking went from student to teacher. I realized that this studio would be very useful in my future classroom. I would to use this studio to show students a different kind of relationships.
